Unit 40 Board Sets End of Year Dates, Fees for Next Year

Effingham Unit 40 school board members Monday set end-of-year dates and set fees for next school year.

As to the end-of-year dates, finals will take place on May 16 and 17. Graduation will be Sunday, May 19 at 2:00pm. The year will conclude with a half-day for students and a SIP day for teachers on May 20, and a Teacher Institute on May 21.

There was also action by the Board on personnel matters.

Jodi Buehnerkemper was hired as a school psychologist for next school year and Brittany Appelt was approved as a cafeteria monitor at Central.

Resignations were accepted from Andrea Miller as a junior high Science teacher, from Kelsey Miller as a junior high Special Education teacher and from Amy Hines as a high school PE teacher and Yearbook sponsor, all at the end of the school year. Resignations were also accepted from Stephanie Shaffer as a paraprofessional, from Cindy Deters as a cafeteria monitor at Central, from Lexi Holder as a junior high cheerleading sponsor, and from Rick Clayton as a custodian at Central.

A leave was approved for Michelle Hinterscher under the Family and Medical Leave Act, and Kaylee Tonn was approved as a volunteer high school softball coach.
