Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night in the county.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department was called at 8:40pm to US Highway 45 at 2050th Avenue, just south of the Effingham-Shelby County line. Deputies report a SUV driven by 26-year-old Melissa Hoene of Sigel was headed northbound when Hoene lost control of the vehicle. The unit entered the ditch on the west side of the highway and overturned 1-1/2 to two times before coming to rest on its side after striking a small tree.

Hoene and her passenger, 29-year-old Logan Hoene of Sigel, were injured and were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Melissa Hoene was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
