Members of the Effingham City-County Enterprise Zone Board met this month to review projects undertaken in 2018 and what's to come this year.

Enterprise Zone Administrator Sasha Althoff discussed projects undertaken in the Zone in 2018. Those include Diesel Doctor Diagnostics, Roepke Overhead Door, Siemer Milling, Village Square Mall (roof), Legacy RV, Sports Design and Graphics, America's Best Value Inn, Effingham Railroad, Heartland Dental, Firefly Grill, Wright At Home Interiors, McAllister's Deli, Stevens Industries, Waupaca Foundry, Farmweld, Sherwin Williams, Wortman Printing, J&J Ventures, and Effingham Storage Solutions.

In offering a yearly summary, Althoff said the 26 projects undertaken generated $25,189,823 in investment and 105 jobs created. Those numbers exceeded the 2018 goal of $10 million investment and 100 jobs created.

Four businesses opened within the Enterprise Zone during 2018: McAllister's Deli, Wright At Home Interiors, Roepke Overhead Door, and Heartland Family Dental.

Two projects have been approved so far in 2019: Effingham Storage Solutions and RMC Theatre at Village Square Mall.
