Prosecutors have filed their response to Barry Wolfe's request to have his guilty pleas to sex crimes withdrawn.

Wolfe pleaded guilty in June 2018 to two counts of criminal sexual assault while in a supervisory position over the victim. Wolfe also pleaded guilty to a count of criminal sexual assault and a count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between 13 and 18 years old.

Wolfe was sentenced to a total of 60 years in prison. He is asking to withdraw his guilty pleas, saying his former legal counsel didn't use current sentencing guidelines when explaining the sentences he might receive.

The 54-year-old Wolfe formerly coached a traveling basketball team and is accused of forcing some of his players into performing sex acts.

A hearing on Wolfe's motion is set for 9am on April 5 in Coles County Circuit Court, where the charges were filed. Wolfe remains in prison, but will be in court for the April hearing.
