Effingham Regional Growth Alliance, The Alliance, announced today that President and CEO Craig Nielson has decided to step down and pursue a new opportunity in Texas. Nielson has served in his current role since September 2016 and was the first person the organization hired.

Nielson brought 30 years of education and experience in economic and community development to his leadership role at The Alliance. During his time with The Alliance, Nielson was a pioneer in some of the projects that added to Effingham County’s continuous economic growth. These projects include a partnership with Lake Land College for the LaunchCode coding course, Self-Help Housing Program in Dieterich, multiple research studies that have identified some of the opportunities in our community, and much more.

Nielson said, “I will always be thankful for the time spent in Effingham County. It has been an honor to work with local business leaders and communities to create an environment appealing to new and expanding industry. I have learned much and offer my best wishes for continued success.”

In a statement released by the Alliance, "The Alliance is grateful for Craig Nielson’s hard work, dedication, and leadership in helping Effingham County continue to grow and wish him the absolute best in his new endeavor. During the upcoming weeks, the Organization’s executive committee will begin developing a hiring strategy for Mr. Nielson’s replacement."

The Effingham Regional Growth Alliance is a private/public partnership that leads, assists and collaborates with business, government, educators and the Chamber of Commerce across Effingham County to market the Effingham region to attract business and industry, and skilled workers, while expanding the market of products and services produced in the county.
