A fiber Internet installation project is underway in Teutopolis, and village board members had the opportunity Wednesday to hear more about the effort.

Astrid Hutchison of Illinois Fiber Connect spoke to the Board about a project underway to extend the fiber Internet service to all three school buildings in Teutopolis. While they're in the village, Hutchison said the company is making the service available to residents. 92 residents have indicated interest in obtaining the service, but Hutchison said another 350 customers are needed to make the project financially viable for the company. You can contact Teutopolis Village Hall for more information.

A possible discussion on revised plans for a new village hall for Teutopolis was tabled as the plans were not yet available.

The village board did review Planning Commission minutes and discussed vacating an undeveloped roadway known as Herin Street from Vine to Oak Streets. The plan does involve the Village retaining a 30-foot utility easement on the property since there are existing village utilities running through the property.
