McCarter Confirmed as US Ambassador to Kenya

Retiring 54th District Illinois State Senator Kyle McCarter has been confirmed as the next US Ambassador to Kenya.

McCarter, who did not seek re-election, has worked with his wife Victoria in missions and ministry work in Kenya for many years. They operate a ministry in Kenya known as Each1Feed1. The organization focuses on helping widows and orphans.

The US Senate Wednesday voted to confirm McCarter as ambassador on a voice vote.

McCarter's term in the Illinois Senate ends this month. Jason Plummer will succeed him as 54th District State Senator.

Also taking office this month will be Darren Bailey and Blaine Wilhour, who will succeed State Representatives David Reis and John Cavaletto.
