Retired Unit 40 teacher Robin Klosterman will head the ballot in the race for Unit 40 Board of Education in April.

Klosterman, Jill Wendling and Dannielle Kingery-Harden were on hand when the filing period for school board began earlier this month. Since ballot position is based on when someone files, a lottery was necessary to determine who got the top three spots.

Wendling was on hand for the lottery, while two staff members in Effingham County Clerk Kerry Hirtzel's office drew for the other candidates. Klosterman's number was pulled from a hat first, Wendling pulled her own number second, and then Kingery-Harden's number was pulled third.

There are five candidates for the four available school board seats. Klosterman, Wendling and Kingery-Harden will be followed by Jane Willenborg, who is the only incumbent seeking re-election, and then by Bradley Waldhoff. Carol Ruffner, Jeff Michael and Todd Schaefer are not seeking re-election.
