The Altamont school board took action this week on a series of items.

The Board approved the tax levy for the coming fiscal year. The levy is the same as was presented at the November meeting. The Board also approved the intergovernmental agreement between Altamont Junior High School and Altamont Lutheran Interparish School to co-op junior high softball.

The Board approved the addition of two Business classes and A.P. Biology to the Altamont Community High School course catalog.

In personnel moves, the Altamont board approved the hire of Brittany Storer as a teacher assigned to elementary education, the hire of Jerry Ritchel as a full-time district custodian, the hire of Dusty Miller as a transportation aide and recess aide, the hire of Lisa Reardon as junior high track coach, and the hire of Clint Reardon and Justin Osteen as volunteer coaches for junior high track.

The Altamont board also approved the formation of a 5th and 6th grade cheer program coached by volunteer Dena Beccue, and approved the school-sponsored Trap Shooting team. It was also agreed to seek bids for a new 36-passenger school bus.

Board members approved Sam Plum as 5th and 6th grade volunteer assistant basketball coach, and approved Carly Dorr as interim dance coach for the school year.
