Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris investigated two deaths over the Thanksgiving weekend.

On Thanksgiving Day, Harris responded to a residence south of Bluff City that was occupied by Ronald Lee Torbeck. Torbeck was discovered by his brother after he did not appear for the Thanksgiving meal. Both the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and Coroner Harris were dispatched to the scene.

Harris pronounced the 70-year-old Torbeck dead at the scene about 2:15pm.

On Saturday afternoon, Harris was called to a residence north of Bluff City. The residence was occupied by 56-year-old Joseph Bergen of rural Brownstown. Also on scene were Fayette County sheriff's deputies and a crime scene investigator from the Illinois State Police.

Harris said an autopsy determined that Bergen's death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
