Effingham Child Development Center is being awarded $100,000 by the Creative Ministries Offering Committee of the Presbyterian Women. The funds will aid ECDC's "Inclusion is Within Everyone's Ability" project.

A check presentation is scheduled for noon on Monday, November 5 at the ECDC at 1101 Holly Drive in Effingham.

ECDC is working to finance an all-inclusive playground that would benefit all children attending the Center. To date, $115,375.55 has been raised. The completed project will cost just over $300,000.

Here are the things ECDC is attempting to remedy:

--unleveled pea gravel that doesn't provide for fall safety and is not wheelchair-accessible

--drainage issues that don't allow kids to play outside for a few days after rainstorms

--equipment that does not meet ADA requirements

--a lack of adequate shade for playgrounds

--playgrounds do not serve all children in the ECDC program

--playgrounds that limit ECDC's mission to serve all
