This month, Firefly Grill, the family-owned sustainable farm and restaurant in Effingham, is launching two new community programs: the Mindful Kids’ Menu—curated by the family’s six-year-old daughter—and a collaboration with the national No Kid Hungry campaign and neighboring artisan, John Boos Outlet.

“What started as a commitment to nourishing our own family has grown into a larger community effort,” said Kristie Campbell, co-founder and owner of Firefly Grill. “We’re grateful for the incredible foods that we feed our family, but realize many kids in our community don’t have this choice.”

Kristie, along with her husband and Firefly Grill head chef, Niall, were thrilled when their daughter Camden began showing excitement for colorful, healthy foods at a young age. They knew she had a place in the Firefly Grill kitchen.

With the help of her father, Camden created a range of kid-friendly dishes in line with the family’s passion for locally sourced, high-quality ingredients. The “Camden approved” Mindful Kids’ Menu features three healthy and flavorful entrees including grilled free-range chicken breast, bite-sized filet mignons and wild, sustainable salmon served with seasonal sides, all for under $15.

“Rainbows are delicious, so I always make my plate colorful,” said Camden of her vibrant menu choices.

Furthering their commitment to nourishing the community, Firefly Grill is partnering with No Kid Hungry, a national campaign that works to end childhood hunger by ensuring kids get the food they need.

Through the end of the year, guests will have the opportunity to make a donation to No Kid Hungry during their visit to Firefly Grill or neighboring John Boos Outlet, a local partner that creates handcrafted hardwood cutting blocks. For a donation of $25 or more, guests will receive a special edition Boos cutting board customized with Firefly Grill, John Boos, and No Kid Hungry logos.

“We are proud to support an organization that shares our family and our restaurant’s dedication to a healthy home and community starting with nourishing food,” said Chef Niall.

Join Firefly Grill for the debut of the Mindful Kids’ Menu on Oct. 22, and support the fight to end of childhood hunger.
