Teutopolis Village Board members Wednesday discussed a proposed agreement for improvements on US Route 40, or Main Street, through the village.

The Village would share in the cost of milling, resurfacing and striping the parking lane and would cover the entire cost of curb repairs and parking lane patching, with the State covering the balance of the cost of resurfacing the roadway. It's expected the work would take place during 2021.

The Board also reviewed an application for Tax Increment Financing funds from Stevens Industries. The company is planning to add on to the northwest part of their buildng, but also hopes to see work on the intersection of Water and Race Streets, and some power line work.

Board members saw no problems with the request and will ask South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission to draw up an agreement.

The Board passed an ordinance to place stop signs in Prairie View Subdivision, the new residential subdivision in the southeast part of the village, and also set Trick or Treat in Teutopolis for Friday, October 26, right after the Halloween Parade.
