The new Emergency department entrance at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham is now open off of Mulberry Street, following a recent review by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IPDH). The IDPH reviewed the newly completed renovated area of the Emergency department, which is phase one of the three-phased renovation project, and gave their approval for occupancy on September 7.

With the opening of this new entrance, people needing to come to the Emergency department can now enter under the canopied driveway off of Mulberry Street. The new entrance is to the north under the canopy. Please follow signage directing to the entrance. The parking area in front of the emergency entrance is also now open for Emergency department patients and families. As always, if you need immediate medical attention, call 911 rather than driving yourself to the Emergency department.

Construction of this first phase of the renovation began in February 2018. This newly completed phase of the renovation includes a new registration desk, a triage area immediately next to registration, and a larger waiting room. There are also a number of private exam rooms, which is beginning of the Emergency department moving to all private rooms. The renovation, which will be complete in August 2019, enhances safety, security and privacy for patients in a more efficient design.

As a reminder, patients and their family members coming to the hospital for outpatient testing or surgical procedures should enter the hospital through the Prairie Heart Institute covered entrance off of Maple Street, marked entrance “C”, which is the hospital’s new outpatient entrance. Patients should park in the designated patient parking areas in front of the Prairie Heart entrance or in the lot located on the southeast corner of Maple Street and St. Anthony’s Avenue. Valet parking services are available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
