Another Interstate Accident Caused by Slow Speeds

Illinois State Police report at 4:12 Sunday morning a car driven by Angelia W. Obasad, 28 of Jefferson Arkansas was traveling north on Interstate 57 at a slow rate of speed a mile north of Edgewood when a semi driven by Rocky D. Rash, age 55 of Elkland, Missouri struck the car from behind.

Obasad had five children in the car with her and all were injured. One child was flown from the scene by Air Evac to Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Obasad and the other children were all taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham.

Rash was not injured but was cited with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.

Abasad was charged with Driving While License is Suspended, Violating the Minimum Speed Requirements, and Failure to Properly Secure Child under 8 in a Child Restraint System.
