Three people were injured in a crash involving two pickup trucks in Fayette County at 4:30pm Tuesday.

State police report 32-year-old Joshua Lawrence of St. Elmo was eastbound four miles north of Brownstown at the Brownstown Blacktop and reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign at the blacktop. Police say Lawrence pulled out in front of 66-year-old Robert Stonecipher of Brownstown and the units collided in the intersection.

Lawrence's pickup came to rest on the roadway, while Stonecipher's pickup came to rest in a ditch.

Lawrence's passenger, 53-year-old Edward Willis of St. Elmo, was ejected from the vehicle. Willis was airlifted to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield for treatment. Lawrence was airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Stonecipher's passenger, 68-year-old Debra Stonecipher of Brownstown, was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Lawrence was cited for not wearing a seat belt, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, and failure to yield. Willis was cited for not wearing a seat belt.
