Two People Killed in Crash Near St. Elmo

Two people were fatally injured in a crash near St. Elmo Tuesday evening. Information on the crash was released Thursday afternoon.

The people killed were 36-year-old Michelle C. Davis of Allentown, Pennsylvania and 30-year-old Aerial F. McLean of Silver Springs, Maryland.

State police report a semi driven by 51-year-old Jerry L. Brown of Atlanta, Georgia was parked along I-70 eastbound, one mile west of St. Elmo. A car driven by Davis drove completely onto the shoulder of the roadway at what police said was a high rate of speed and struck the rear of Brown's semi trailer. 

In addition to the two fatalities, Brown was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Brown was cited for improper parking on the roadway.
