Bargainers for the Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education and the Effingham Classroom Teachers Association met Monday morning, but reached no agreement on a contract.

The committees met for some two hours, then agreed to meet again on July 27. Monday's session was far shorter than the meeting earlier this month between the negotiators.

Many members of the teachers association were on hand throughout the day Monday out in front of the Unit offices on South Banker to show solidarity and encouraging passing motorists to honk to demonstrate their support.

There was no mention of the negotiating session at Monday night's school board meeting, which was also attended by many teachers and some community members.
