Fire Damaged Mattoon Home Wednesday Evening

At 6:01pm Wednesday night the Mattoon Fire Department received a report of a structure fire in a residence located at 1012 South 9th Street. 

Upon arrival crews found fire and smoke coming from the Northwest side of the residence through a window. Fire crews made access through the front door and were able to extinguish the fire. 

The fire caused extensive fire damage in the bedroom area. While smoke and water damage occured throughout the rest of the home. 

There was no one home at the time of fire and all units from Mattoon and Charleston Fire Departments cleared the scene at 1032pm.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
