On this 12/12/12 observance, Effingham Noon Rotarians found out what was going on in the world and in Effingham County's world 100 years ago.  The guest speaker for Wednesday's Noon Rotary meeting was local historian Delaine Donaldson.

Donaldson discussed things such as the start of hostilities that resulted in World War I and the presidential election that brought Democrat Woodrow Wilson to office, only the second Democrat elected president in the 50 years since the Civil War.

Donaldson also noted that only one person present for the meeting was around when all of the events were happening; the then-infant Arthur Schottman.

Ron Kinder served as Rotary weekly program chairman.
