Two Vandalia men are being held in the Fayette County Jail for burglary following a manhunt for two armed suspects south of Ramsey.

Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith announced that 41-year-old James Longwell and 47-year-old William Nordyke were taken into custody just before noon Sunday. The sheriff's department was assisted during the search by Vandalia Police, Illinois State Police troopers, ISP air operations, Secretary of State Police and Conservation Police. Smith is also thanking the public that helped with the apprehension.

Both men have convictions in Fayette County that led to earlier prison terms. Nordyke went to prison after his probation was revoked for a 2003 conviction for reckless homicide with a vehicle. Longwell received a three-year sentence for a 1996 burglary.

No further details have been released about the burglary that led up to the manhunt.
