The formal groundbreaking on an Effingham location for Teutopolis State Bank was held Thursday morning.

The full-service banking facility will be located at 900 West Jefferson Avenue, north across Jefferson from St. John's Lutheran Church. Work will begin immediately on the bank, with completion anticipated in January.

Bank President Hank Koester said, "With this new branch, we will be pleased to have a physical presence within the city of Effingham where we can introduce our products and top notch services to the residents and business owners of Effingham. Effingham has always been and will continue to be an important market to us. As a relationship-based bank, providing another convenient location for our customers is an essential priority."

The Effingham location will feature a modern interior design aimed at improving the customer experience with an open layout and comfortable meeting areas where customers can meet privately with bankers to discuss their financial needs.

Completion of the Effingham location will give Teutopolis State Bank three fully operational facilities, joining the Teutopolis location and Sigel Community Bank.

Teutopolis State Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Teutopolis Holding Company. The bank has been serving local customers since October 1913.
