Charitable Giving Seminar to be Offered at Courthouse Museum

The Effingham County Museum has scheduled an informational meeting on Monday, November 7.

The program, set for 7:00 p.m. in the first floor meeting room at the historic courthouse, will feature Ken Vogt of West and Company and Joedy Hightower of the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation presenting a “Charitable Giving Seminar.” Those who attend this free event will learn how to be tax smart with charitable giving regarding topics such as qualified Charitable Distributions from IRA accounts, Charitable gifts of appreciated property, Charitable gifts of Life Insurance policies, “Bunching” itemized deductions vs. standard deduction, Get a receipt for your charitable gift, qualified gifts and charities, Federal and taxable estates (Deduction for charitable bequest), Charitable bequest in a will or trust, Transfers on death directives, Best types of assets to leave to charities (retirement accounts, taxable annuities, insurance policies, etc.), and the role of Foundations in charitable giving.

The meeting is open to the public.
