Two vehicles collided in the north part of Effingham County, resulting in injuries to one of the drivers.

The crash happened at 11:08am Thursday on US Route 45, a quarter-mile south of 2050th Avenue in Douglas Township. The site is near the Effingham/Shelby County line.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a pickup truck driven by 69-year-old John Siemer of Sigel slowed in traffic behind a semi. A car driven by 28-year-old Dustin Hartke of Dieterich did not slow in time and rear-ended the pickup truck.

Hartke was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Hartke was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
