The October 5 meeting of Effingham Noon Rotary was a "Celebration of Ted", a remembrance of the late Ted Keller and his considerable charity work in Latin America, particularly in Guatemala.

From a nursery to trash cans in a village park to health care facilities, Keller saw a need and tried to meet it. Monte Bartels, who has taken up the cause following Ted's death earlier this year in addition to his own ministry work in Costa Rica, spoke about Ted. Bartels called Keller a "visionary" for his ability to see the big picture. Bartels termed himself a reluctant pupil to the lessons Keller had for him, but now sees the wisdom in those lessons. Ted's widow, Tina, was present for the meeting, along with Bartels' wife, Shirley, and their friend Maggie Davis.

Alexandria Denoyer was the Rotary weekly student guest. Alex, who was crowned EHS Homecoming Queen this past Friday night, is the daughter of Angela and Christopher Denoyer and is a senior at Effingham High School. She is a participant in school musicals, the Marching Hearts Red Regiment, Effingham County CEO and track and field. She is an active member of First Christian Church of Effingham and is undecided about her college plans.
