Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker has called a Town Meeting for Wednesday, August 24 to discuss the issue of recycling.

The meeting will begin at 6pm at Effingham City Hall in the City Council Chambers. The topic is "Recycling Efforts: Past, Present, Future".

The mayor said, "This topic has been a nagging issue for this community for many years. Personally, I hate it when I drag my garbage can out to the curb every week and it's half full of plastic jugs, bottles and newspapers. I've been approached by countless citizens to bring Effingham into progressive times with a recycling program. However, I've found this objective is much easier said than done. I invite concerned citizens and parties to come up to City Hall on August 24 and join me in kicking this issue around vigorously."
