A Salem man was killed in a crash in Cumberland County Tuesday.

Dead is 27-year-old Dustin J. Garner. State police say Garner was a passenger in a pickup truck that witnesses say was traveling erratically and passing vehicles on the right shoulder of eastbound Interstate 70, about six miles east of Greenup. Police say the pickup truck ran off the roadway to the right and rolled multiple times down the embankment and came to rest upright.

While Garner was killed in the crash, the driver, David Essary of Indianapolis, Indiana, was injured and was taken to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.

Essary was cited on counts of DUI alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, driving on a suspended license, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, illegal transportation of alcohol, reckless driving, improper lane usage and driving on the shoulder of the roadway. Police say further crash details are pending.

The crash happened at 5:45pm Tuesday.
