A political watchdog group Thursday said Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has granted close to a half million dollars in pay hikes over the past two years.
For the Good of Illinois PAC Chairman Adam Andrzejewski said Madigan gave the raises to "exempt" employees or political hires.
Andrzejewski specifically took note of Kareem Kenyatta, who received a $20,000 pay boost to $65,000 in two promotions over a five-month period. Kenyatta is now Madigan's director of legislative affairs and works for the Attorney General despite not having a law degree. Kenyatta, Andrzejewski said, formerly worked for Madigan's father, House Speaker Michael Madigan.
