Jasper County school board members know there's one item in their budget where costs will be fixed for the next few years.  Their superintendent.

The Jasper Board Monday approved a five-year extension of the contract of Superintendent Dan Cox through June 30, 2018.  The agreement includes a voluntary salary freeze of $110,000 for the three years and a provision to open the contract the last two years to consider Cox's salary.

In other personnel moves, the Jasper school board approved Lynn Slough as a district classroom aide, Bill Barbee as a bus driver, Amy Harris as a high school assistant girls basketball coach, and Cassie Elliott as a volunteer at Newton Elementary School.  The Board also recognized the retiring Phil Benefiel in recognition of his more than 20 years of service to the district.

Board members discussed options for a strategic planning process to develop district goals, and voted for revisions to district coaching evaluation instruments.  Mike Knepper voted against the revisions to the coaching evaluation instruments.
