Proponents of a wind energy transmission line system are in the area this week to share the proposal with local residents.

Clean Line Energy Partners has informational meetings scheduled, including one in Effingham, to gather information from local businesses that could support the construction and maintenance of the Grain Belt Express Clean Line. The informational meeting in Effingham will take place on Wednesday, the 21st, from 3-4:30pm at the American Legion Home downtown on Washington Avenue.

As proposed, the Grain Belt Express Clean Line is an approximately 750-mile overhead, direct current transmission line that would deliver wind power from western Kansas to Illinois and surrounding states.

The proponents of the project also have stops scheduled in Jacksonville, Carlinvlle and Taylorville.
