Three people, including a child, were injured in a collision west of Effingham Friday morning.

State police say a car driven by 36-year-old Lucas Bockhorn of Effingham attempted to cross US 40 into the path of a pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Randall Seale of Effingham and Seale's vehicle struck the passenger side of Bockhorn's car.

The crash occurred at 7:20am at the Funkhouser Road.

Both drivers were injured, as well as a four-year-old passenger in the Bockhorn vehicle. Both drivers were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, while the child, whose name was not released, was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana.

Bockhorn was cited for failure to yield and for failure to secure a child in a child restraint device.
