Heartland Human Services, a local behavioral health and counseling agency, recently announced it has renewed its partnership with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, located in Springfield, IL, has created a Memory and Aging Network that is comprised of community-based health service providers in downstate Illinois. The resulting interconnected team of experts is dedicated to serving individuals with memory problems.

Staff is particularly trained to evaluate individuals with memory loss or other cognitive complaints. The network provides counseling, referrals, and education.

"This strategic partnership has been a mutually beneficial relationship for more than 8 years," says Heartland's Director of Geriatric Services, Linda Warner. "The healthcare professionals at SIU School of Medicine have been great to work with as we make inroads into understanding the challenges of dementia. This is important work and we are proud to be a part of it."
