{"id":44428,"date":"2026-08-17T11:27:01","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T16:27:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=44428"},"modified":"2026-08-17T11:52:27","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T16:52:27","slug":"teutopolis-monastery-museum-6","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/calendar\/44428-teutopolis-monastery-museum-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Teutopolis Monastery Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-tribe_events pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Teutopolis Monastery Museum will be open to visitors on Sunday, September 6, with 38 small rooms of displays open to visitors.\u00a0 The hours are from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.\u00a0 We recommend you come early to see the many unique and interesting articles on display!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Admission for adults is $5.00 and $1.00 for children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Museum is located on the second floor in the former Franciscan Novitiate building, which is located behind St. Francis Church in Teutopolis.\u00a0 An elevator is available for visitors who have difficulty with stairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Besides its collection of articles used by the Franciscan Friars, the Museum is also known for Bibles and books in different languages, some from the 1700\u2019s.\u00a0 The \u201cpioneer wing\u201d features items used by early Teutopolis pioneers, including furniture, clocks, quilts, toys, and various household and grocery store items.\u00a0 These articles are on display in the former \u201ccells\u201d or bedrooms of the Novices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Volunteers are available along the tour to explain the displays and assist visitors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Also open to visitors are the basement where many small farm tools are displayed, the Mausoleum where 79 Franciscan Friars are interred, and St. Francis Church, with stained glass windows depicting events in the life of St. Francis of Assisi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Special group tours for adults or school groups can be arranged on days other than the scheduled Sunday openings.
