{"id":41075,"date":"2026-06-24T10:04:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T15:04:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=41075"},"modified":"2026-06-24T10:49:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T15:49:45","slug":"free-america-250-concerts-and-museum-admission-in-springfield","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/calendar\/41075-free-america-250-concerts-and-museum-admission-in-springfield\/","title":{"rendered":"Free America 250 Concerts and Museum Admission in Springfield"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-tribe_events pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p>The <strong>Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum<\/strong> in Springfield is throwing a block party to celebrate America\u2019s 250th birthday, complete with free concerts, a \u201ckids and pets\u201d parade and an array of food trucks.<\/p>\n<p>The day starts at 9 a.m. with free admission to the museum all day long, where you can connect with America\u2019s greatest president.\u00a0 They\u2019ll also find the special exhibit \u201c<strong>The Second American Revolution<\/strong>,\u201d which reveals how the American Civil War and the era of Reconstruction transformed the United States.\u00a0 The exhibit includes the pen Abraham Lincoln used to sign the Emancipation Proclamation and a copy of the 13th Amendment signed by Lincoln and his congressional allies who abolished slavery.<\/p>\n<p>Kids and pets can parade around Union Square Park, across the street from the museum, at 3:30 p.m. with decorated wagons and strollers.\u00a0 Kids young and old can also play with streams of bubbles and foam (and even have a bubble form around them) with <em>Foam and Flight<\/em> from 3:00-7:00 p.m.\u00a0 Food trucks will be selling drinks, all-American favorites and a few other tasty surprises.<\/p>\n<p>The free concerts begin at 4:15 p.m. with the <em>33rd Illinois Volunteer Regiment Band<\/em>, an authentic re-creation of the actual Civil War Era band that was mustered at State Normal University in 1861.\u00a0 The band&#8217;s uniforms, sewn from natural wool fibers, are authentic in every detail and are patterned from actual specimens worn by the Union soldier.<\/p>\n<p>The main event is a rousing performance by <em>3rd Coast Brass<\/em>, Chicago&#8217;s premier symphonic brass band.\u00a0 They take the stage at 6:00 to blend the rich tradition of brass music with a bold, innovative repertoire.\u00a0 Made up of some of Chicago\u2019s top musicians, 3rd Coast Brass has been praised as \u201camazing,\u201d \u201csuperb\u201d and one of the best brass band ensembles in the Midwest, with \u201ca big, gorgeous, golden sound.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is throwing a block party to celebrate America\u2019s 250th birthday, complete with free concerts, a \u201ckids and pets\u201d parade and an [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"","_tribe_events_status":"","_tribe_events_status_reason":"","footnotes":""},"tags":[],"tribe_events_cat":[40],"class_list":["post-41075","tribe_events","type-tribe_events","status-publish","hentry","tribe_events_cat-community-calendar","cat_community-calendar"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.8 -
