Folk art carvings of Ferd Metten will be on display Sunday, August 3rd, from 12:30-4:00pm.\u00a0 Ferd was a member of St. Francis Parish, a farmer and
\nself-taught artist.\u00a0 His dioramas and smaller carvings reflect pioneer and farm life, his Catholic faith, and remembrances from his youth.\u00a0 He also carved vases and bowls and decorated them with sliced walnut shells.\u00a0 Over 20 of his artworks are on loan from the Tarble Art Center, Eastern Illinois University, and displayed in the Sister Ethelbert Center behind St. Francis Church in Teutopolis.\u00a0 The exhibit is returning to EIU after the 3rd of\u00a0 August.<\/p>\n
