TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School took charge early and had players denting the plate in five of the six innings it played to down North Clay\/Clay City by an 11-4 count in a baseball game heard on KJ Country 102.3 Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes opened with a 4-0 first inning lead, then tacked on single runs in the second and third, two in the fourth and three in the sixth.<\/p>\n

T-town had 10 hits that included three home runs. Carter Hoene hit a homer and drove in three runs while Jason Kreke had a single, home run and two RBI, Davin Worman a single, home run and three RBI and Michael Niebrugge a single, double and three RBI.<\/p>\n

North Clay had five hits, all singles. Cody Zimdars, Ian Jones, Carder Walden and Cayden Craig had a single and an RBI each.\u00a0 Jack Compton added the other single.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes used seven pitchers, getting each one an inning. Niebrugge picked up the win as he went the second inning, not allowing a hit, giving up one walk and striking out one.<\/p>\n

Coach Justin Fleener’s crew improved to 20-6 on the season and won’t return to action until Friday at Edwardsville vs. Highland in the Tiger Classic.<\/p>\n

North Clay dropped to 14-6 on the season and returns to play today\u00a0 hosting Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg.<\/p>\n

At Effingham<\/strong><\/p>\n

Charleston claimed an Apollo Conference baseball doubleheader over Effingham Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The opening game was a 9-8 victory over the Trojans in a game that resumed after being called for rain last Saturday.<\/p>\n

It came down to the wire as the Hearts grabbed the win in walk-off fashion. EHS was down 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh when Carter Braddy singled, scoring two runs. The Hearts came back despite trailing 8-2 in the second inning.<\/p>\n

EHS opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Jude Traub singled, scoring a run.<\/p>\n

Charleston flipped the game in the top of the second, scoring eight runs on four hits to tale an 8-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field by Luke Bonnstetter.<\/p>\n

EHS took the lead in the bottom of the seventh thanks to singles by Andrew Wagoner and Braddy.<\/p>\n

Traub earned the win on the mound. He gave up four hits and seven runs, five earned, over the 3 2\/5 innings, striking out none and walking five.<\/p>\n

Effingham piled up nine hits. Wagoner and Traub\u00a0 had a single, double and an RBI each while Braddy had two singles and two RBI. Max\u00a0Flack added a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n

In the second contest, the Hearts stayed in until the end but Charleston pulled away late in a 5-4 victory.<\/p>\n

The game was tied at 4-4 in the top of the seventh when Burk Anderson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring the winning run.<\/p>\n

Effingham lost out despite out-hitting Charleston 7-5. Colton Webb led the way with a single and two doubles. Flack added two doubles and an RBI and Brayden Tucker a triple and three RBI.<\/p>\n

In a junior varsity contest, Charleston claimed a 4-1 win over the Hearts.<\/p>\n

The Trojans had six hits while Effingham had three.<\/p>\n

The Hearts were led by Jacob Warner, O. Schuette and Aidan Feldhake with a single each.<\/p>\n

The Maroons finished the contest with 10 hits while Jackson Icenogle held BSE to five.<\/p>\n

Dom Ashley dominated the hitting with two home runs and five RBI. Bryce Bohnhoff added two doubles and an RBI, Gavin Meinhart a double and two RBI and Ben Schottman with a single and an RBI. Andrew Hall added an RBI.<\/p>\n

Icenogle went four innings, allowing one run on one hit, one walk and striking out six.<\/p>\n

BSE was led by Jayce Gillespie with a double, Nolan Wilhour with two singles and Calin Chandler with an RBI.<\/p>\n

Dieterich then hosted Neoga in a second game and fell 1-0.<\/p>\n

Neoga scored its lone run in the third. The Indians had five hits led by Garrett Ballinger with a double, Colin Blazich with a single and an RBI and Cayden Hakman with two singles.<\/p>\n

Kanen White went seven innings, allowing no runs on four hits, one walk and striking out 13.<\/p>\n

Dietrich was led by Boerngen with a double.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg’s Ben Bridges hit the game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh as Windsor\/Stew-Stras tied South Central at 4-4 and then went on for a 5-4 victory.<\/p>\n

South Central edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead and moved that to 4-2 in the fifth. But the Hatchets tied in the seventh. Then in the eighth, Seth Rincker hit a walk-off single to score the winning run for the Hatchets.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras finished with 11 hits compared to four for South Central.<\/p>\n

Bridges hit a single, home run and finished with two RBI while Jackson Gurgel had three singles and Koy Morris had a single, double and two RBI and Carter Verdeyen a double.<\/p>\n

Rincker had a single and an RBI. The Hatchets improved to 11-2 on the season.<\/p>\n

Branson Tingley picked up the win on the mound. He came on in relief of Morris in the sixth and went three imnings, allowing no runs on two hits, one walk and striking out four.<\/p>\n

Colton Smith hit a solo home run for the Cougars. Zane Montes had an RBI.<\/p>\n

Altamont ripped out to a 12-0 opening inning lead and went on to trounce Mulberry Grove by a 20-5 count in four innings Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Indians had 15 hits with 11 players garnering at least one. Keegan Schultz had a home run and two RBI while Parker Bell had two singles, a double and three RBI. Kaiden Wolff added two singles and three RBI and Reed Stuemke two singles. Zaine Miller, Dyson Wagner and Carson Milleville had a single and two RBI each. Jackson Pagone, Jayden Krause and Owen Reardon added a single and an RBI each. Kade Milleville finished with an RBI and Will Reardon a single.<\/p>\n

C. Milleville went the first inning for the win on the mound. He gave up one hit and struck out two.<\/p>\n

The Eagles tallied six hits. Gavin Meinhart had two singles for the Eagles. Quincy Fulton added a single and two RBI while Carson Barthelme and Kohlten Barthelme finished with a single and an RBI each.<\/p>\n

C. Barthleme went the distance on the mound. He gave up three hits, one walk and struck out eight.<\/p>\n
