NEWTON — Charleston High School won the Newton Boys Track Invitational Friday. The Trojans were followed by Newton 80.5, Effingham 77, Altamont 69, Robinson 50, Effingham St. Anthony 46, Fairfield 42,\u00a0 Mattoon 39, Richland County, Olney 38, Teutopolis 36, Vandalia 35.5, Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City 26, Brownstown\/St. Elmo 20, North Clay 19, Dieterich 14, Oblong\/Palestine\/Hutsonville 11 and Red Hill (Bridgeport) 6.<\/p>\n

Three area athletes were double event winners. Brownstown\/St. Elmo’s Trenten Monnet was a winner in the shot with a heave of 15.55 meters. He also captured the discus with a throw of 51.34 meters.<\/p>\n

Effingham’s Dunston Weldon won the 100 in 11.31 seconds and captured the 200 in 22.71. The 4×800 relay team of Alex Gordon, Aaron Hill, Alexander McFarland and Sam Spicer won in 8:38.91 minutes.<\/p>\n

Altamont’s Ben Roedl was a winner in the high jump at 6 feet, 5 inches. He also won the long jump at 21 feet, 2 1\/4 inches. Roedl took second in the triple jump at 43-2. Also winning for Altamont was Jacob Veteto in the pole vault at 13 feet, 2 inches.<\/p>\n

Altamont’s Hayden Summers was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 41.29 seconds. The Indians’ 4×400 relay team of Jacob Johnson, Hayden Bridges, Trent Tedrick and Summers won in 3:31.85 minutes.<\/p>\n

Mason Byers of North Clay captured the 400 in 52.28 seconds.<\/p>\n

Newton’s Hayden Borgic was a winner in the 800 in 2:04.06 minutes. The Eagles’ 4×400 relay team won in 3:56.46 minutes. Team members were Beau Bennett, Daniel Falcioni, Caleb Flasch and Parker Harris.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis had a winner in the 110 hurdles as Karson Zerrusen claimed first in 15.40 seconds.<\/p>\n
