STRASBURG — Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg ran out to a 7-0 opening inning lead and never looked back in blanking Effingham St. Anthony by a 10-0 count in five softball innings Thursday.<\/p>\n

Samantha Hayes threw another no-hitter. She gave up three walks while striking out 10 and keeping the Bulldogs off the base path.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Hatchets finished with nine hits and were aided by three St. Anthony errors.<\/p>\n

Zaida Wascher and Mya Friese led the hitting attack. Wascher finished with a single, double and three RBI while M. Friese added a double, triple and one RBI. S. Hayes tallied two singles and an RBI while Kendra Hayes, Ellie Wittenberg and Cameron Carey hit a single and drove in a run each. Katelyn VonBehrens finished with two RBI.<\/p>\n

At Strasburg<\/strong><\/p>\n

Altamont’s Grace Lemke struck out 20 batters as her team scored a single run in the top of the seventh and scored another run in the eighth to pull out a 2-1 victory Thursday.<\/p>\n

Lemke needed just six strikeouts to go over 1,000 for her career. She picked up that strikeout in the third inning and now has a total of 1,014. She allowed one run on four hits and walked three.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Indians pulled out the victory in the eighth. Ella Nelson finished with a single, double and one RBI while Sophia Pearcy had a single and double. Madison Tonn had the other hit with a single.<\/p>\n

Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City tallied a 9-4 win over St. Elmo\/Brownstown Thursday.<\/p>\n

The two teams played to a 1-1 opening inning tie. SEB moved into a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second.<\/p>\n

But here came the Bobcats with two runs in the top of the third to lead 4-3 then tacked on two more in the fourth and sixth innings and one in the seventh.<\/p>\n

CHBC had eight hits led by Dayana Haslett and Callie Ledbetter with two singles each. Haslett added an RBI. Cami Haslett finished with a single and two RBI.<\/p>\n

D. Haslett went the distance on the mound giving up nine runs on eight hits, seven walks and striking out five.<\/p>\n

CHBC was led by Addison Wasson with a single, triple and three RBI, Macee Rodman with two singles and three RBI, Ryleigh Sarver with two singles and Bryleigh Prater with an RBI.<\/p>\n

At Brownstown<\/strong><\/p>\n

Karly Deckard tossed three innings for the pitching victory. She gave up one run on one hit, three walks and struck out two. Lexie Ghast came on to throw the final two innings and struck out three.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Newton had nine hits led by Avery Mulvey with a single, double and two RBI and Bailee Frichtl two singles. Audrie Reich, Allie Hermann and Ghast had a single and an RBI each. Amelia Collins added an RBI.<\/p>\n

Paris’ lone hit was a single by Kayleigh Miller.<\/p>\n

Newton moved its record to 16-0 on the season.<\/p>\n

Chatham Glenwood came calling and handed Effingham a 15-2 loss in Thursday competition.<\/p>\n

The Hearts actually held a 2-1 opening inning lead but Glenwood came back to tie the score in the second.<\/p>\n

Glenwood then broke the game open with a seven-run third, tacked on another run in the fourth and finished with five in the seventh behind a 17-hit attack.<\/p>\n

The Hearts had eight hits led by Ryley Engel with two singles and an RBI and Jerzi Bierman and Mya Harvey with two singles each. Madison Kirk finished with an RBI.<\/p>\n

Two EHS pitchers gave up the 15 hits, allowed only two walks and struck out three.<\/p>\n

At Effingham<\/strong><\/p>\n
