Effingham St. Anthony’s Brock Fearday guided his team to an 11-5 win over Teutopolis in high school baseball Tuesday in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs got started in the right direction, taking a 4-0 opening inning lead. Will Fearday led off the frame with a double. Aiden Lauritzen followed with a single. Brady Hatton brought home a run with a single. B. Fearday then followed with a three-run homer and St. Anthony pushed ahead.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, B. Fearday took the mound. Although he gave up 12 hits over five innings, he struck out 12, allowed three runs and walked three for the victory.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony struck again in the third, pushing its lead to 8-0.\u00a0 B. Fearday led off the frame with a double and came home on a double by Henry Brent. A sacrifice and an error put Alex Mayer on base. Charley Spour capped off the frame with a three-run shot.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs pushed the lead to 9-0 in the top of the fourth. B. Fearday drew a walk and Brent followed with a double. Mayer then singled home Fearday.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis finally broke free with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Carter Hoene led off with a single. With one out, Gavin Addis drew a walk. With two out, Dawson Hoene singled to load the bases. Davin Worman singled home two runs and an error produced the third run.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony came back with a run in the fifth. W. Fearday led off with a double. B. Fearday had a single. W. Fearday came home on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n

T-town tallied a run in the sixth to pull within 10-4. Hoene singled and stole second. He came home on a single by Austin Borries.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony added on a final run in the seventh. With one out, W. Fearday singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Lauritzen drew a walk and Hatton followed with an RBI single<\/p>\n

T-town’s Hoene led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run but the next three batters went up and down in order.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony finished with 15 hits led by W. Fearday with a single, two doubles and three RBI. B. Fearday had a single, double, home run and three RBI. Brent added two doubles and an RBI and Spour a home run and three RBI. Hatton had two singles and two RBI and Mayer a single and an RBI. The Bulldogs improved to 10-5 and are back in action today at Charleston.<\/p>\n

T-town finished with 11 hits led by C. Hoene with a single, home run and an RBI, Borries with three singles and an RBI, Worman with two singles and three RBI, D. Hoene with two singles and Jason Kreke with a double. The Shoes are now 14-2 on the season and return to play Thursday at Mount Zion.<\/p>\n

At Mattoon<\/strong><\/p>\n

Effingham swept a doubleheader over Mattoon Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In the opener, the Hearts won, 4-3.<\/p>\n

EHS got on board in the top of the first inning after Colton Webb doubled to centerfield and Jude Traub singled to right field, each scoring a run for the 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n

That stood until the sixth when Mattoon tied it up on a single by Blaine Howell.<\/p>\n

In the top of the seventh, EHS stepped back into the lead after Traub hit a sacrifice fly and Max Seachrist doubled to centerfield each scoring a run.<\/p>\n

Mattoon attempted a comeback with a run in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.<\/p>\n

Both teams had six hits and one error.<\/p>\n

Wade Bushur came on in the final inning to pick up the win on the mound.<\/p>\n

Webb and Seachrist had a double and an RBI each while Traub had a single and two RBI.<\/p>\n

In the second contest, Effingham stepped out to a 2-0 opening inning lead behind a double by Webb and a ground-out fielder’s choice by Seachrist that scored a run each.<\/p>\n

A single by Braddy in the top of the second extended the EHS lead to 3-0.<\/p>\n

Braddy was the winner on the mound, going 6.2 innings allowing one run, four walks while striking out seven.<\/p>\n

Braddy finished with a single, triple and an RBI while Seachrist had a double and two RBI, Webb a double and an RBI and Wyatt Hayes a double.<\/p>\n

The Hearts aren’t back in action until Saturday against Mount Carmel.<\/p>\n

In junior varsity play, Effingham fell in the opening game to Mattoon, 5-4.<\/p>\n

EHS had eight hits led by James Wendt and Jacob Warner with two singles each. Warner added an RBI. Luke Harper and Hank Nelson had a single and an RBI each. Aidan Feldhake added an RBI.<\/p>\n

In the second game, Mattoon claimed an 8-7 victory, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh after trailing 7-1 going into the frame.<\/p>\n

The Hearts outhit the Green Wave by an 11-9 count but committed three errors.<\/p>\n

EHS was led by Wyatt Hayes with three singles, a triple and four RBI and Carter Kalber with a single and double.<\/p>\n

Altamont banged out 11 hits and scored 12 runs in a 12-8 victory over Tuscola Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Indians held a 2-0 opening inning lead and led 6-0 after three. Tuscola came back with a run in the fourth and seven in the top of the fifth to lead 8-6. But Altamont tied in the bottom of the fifth then scored four runs in the sixth.<\/p>\n

Parker Bell had three singles and drove in three runs while Blake Berg added two singles and three RBI and Will Reardon had a double and three RBI. Brayden Elam added a double and Kade Milleville two singles. Dyson Wagner finished with an RBI.<\/p>\n

Carson Milleville picked up the win in relief. He went 2.1 innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two.<\/p>\n
