Baseball"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p><strong>BY MILLIE LANGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Effingham and North Clay played to a 1-1 opening inning tie in Thursday&#8217;s high school baseball contest.<\/p>\n<p>But, that didn&#8217;t last long as the Hearts found their groove and started to roll, ending with a 12-2 victory in six innings in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinals opened up a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Jack Compton drew a walk. With one out, Ian Jones singled. Carder Walden then cleared the two runners off base with a double. The Hearts then got tough, getting the next two outs to end the threat.<\/p>\n<p>EHS came right back to knot the score in the bottom of the frame. With one out, Carter Braddy drew a walk. Colten Webb singled. Jude Traub followed with a single that scored Braddy. A fielder&#8217;s choice by Max Flack brought the second run home.<\/p>\n<p>EHS then moved into a 4-2 lead in the second. Two errors and a walk scored both runs. With two outs, an error allowed Andrew Wagoner on base. Braddy drew a walk. Then a North Clay error on a ball hit by Webb pushed the score to 4-2.<\/p>\n<p>EHS again tallied two in the third to take the score to 6-2. Flack hit a single and took second on a wild pitch. Brody Boehm singled home Flack. He stole second. A ground out by Wyatt Hayes pushed Boehm across the plate.<\/p>\n<p>The lead went to 7-2 in the fourth. Flack led off with a home run.<\/p>\n<p>In the fifth, the Hearts tallied four more runs to lead 11-2. Flack led off with a home run. Boehm followed with a single and stole second. Brayden Tucker doubled and Hayes hit a ground that scored Boehm. wagoner followed with a single, scoring Tucker and a single by Braddy scored Wagoner.<\/p>\n<p>EHS then ended the contest with a run in the sixth as Boehm drew a walk and Tucker singled. With one out, Wagoner singled home Boehm and the game ended via the 10-run rule.<\/p>\n<p>The Hearts&#8217; Peter Rosen was the winning pitcher. Aidan Niemerg had two doubles and three RBI while Davin\u00a0 Worman added a single, double and two RBI, Michael Niebrugge three singles and an RBI, Austin Borries a double and two RBI and Henry Thompson two singles and two RBI. Bryce Niebrugge and River Vahling added a single and an RBI each.<\/p>\n<p>Dieterich&#8217;s Jackson Icenogle had a solo homer, Gavin Meinhart two singles and Justin Boerngen a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n<p>Niemerg picked up the victory on the mound and is 2-0-1 on the season. Cumberland led 4-3 in the top of the sixth then brought home six runs in the bottom of the frame.<\/p>\n<p>Isaac Venatta had a big game offensively with three singles, a double and driving in four runs. Hudson McElravy added a double and an RBI while Grady Jones finished with a single and an RBI and Reed Miller with two RBI.<\/p>\n<p>Neoga was led by Garrett Ballinger with two singles and an RBI, Evan Fearday with a double and Grady Haarman with a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n<p>McElravy was the winner on the mound.
