TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School played five innings to down Vandalia, 14-4 in softball competition Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes ran out to a 5-0 opening inning lead then added on three more runs in the second.<\/p>\n

Vandalia came back with two runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to pull within 8-4 but T-town finished the game in the fifth with six runs to win by the 10-run rule.<\/p>\n

Coach Crystal Tipton’s team finished with 12 hits led by Chloe Hoene with three singles, a double and an RBI, Kayleigh Zerrusen a single, double and three RBI, Jersey Gaddis a single, double and two RBI and Olivia Wermert a single and two RBI.<\/p>\n

Alyssa Tipton won on the mound. She went all five innings, giving up four runs on four hits, five walks while striking out nine.<\/p>\n

At Teutopolis<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Villa Grove<\/strong><\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg’s offense continues to be strong as the Hatchets finished with 10 hits and an 11-1 win over Villa Grove in six innings Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Hatchets had four extra base hits out of the 10 put up on the scoreboard. Mya Friese had a single, home run and drove in three while Samantha Hayes finished with two singles, a double and an RBI. Clarissa Johnson contributed a single, double and drove in three while Kendra Hayes had a double and an RBI.<\/p>\n

S. Hayes also produced defensively as she took the mound, throwing all six innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks. She struck out 10 batters.<\/p>\n

All four hits for Villa Grove were singles.<\/p>\n
