HIGHLAND — Effingham St. Anthony had 14 hits and went on to down Highland by a 17-3 count in seven high school softball innings Monday.<\/p>\n

It was the Bulldogs vs. the Bulldogs. St. Anthony edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead then added on single runs in the second and third. Highland tallied a run in the fourth.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony then scored two in the fifth, six in the sixth and five in the seventh. Highland added on two more runs in the sixth.<\/p>\n

All nine Northsiders had their hitting shoes on. Julia Schultz had a double, home run and three RBI, Jackie Vonderheide a double, triple and two RBI, Ella Johnson a solo homer, Lilly Gannaway a double and two RBI, Nancy Ruholl a single and double, Camille Wines two singles and two RBI, Adysen Rios two singles, Ava Faber a single and two RBI and Ava Walton a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Ruholl went five innings for the win on the mound. She allowed three runs on three hits and three walks. Wines came on to finish out the final two innings, giving up one hit, one walk while striking out two.<\/p>\n

At Highland<\/strong><\/p>\n

Altamont and Sullivan squared off in a game that was a pitcher’s dual.<\/p>\n

This time around, Sullivan came out a 1-0 winner.<\/p>\n

The two teams went five innings without a score. Sullivan then tallied what proved to be the winning run in the sixth<\/p>\n

JJ Webb picked up the pitching win, allowing two hits, no walks while striking out nine. She also had a single that scored the winning run.<\/p>\n

Another great performance by Grace Lemke on the mound despite the loss. She went six innings, allowing one run on two hits, one walk while striking out 15.<\/p>\n

The lone hits for the Indians were by Sophia Pearcy and Avery Fleeharty with a single each.<\/p>\n

Altamont finished with two errors.<\/p>\n

South Central and Vandalia were knotted at 1-1 after the opening inning and 4-4 after the fifth.<\/p>\n

The Cougars moved ahead 7-4 in the top of the seventh only to see Vandalia come back with a four-run bottom of the frame to pull out an 8-7 victory.<\/p>\n

South Central had 10 hits in the contest led by Kyra Swift with two singles and a double. Maddie Peddicord had two singles while Kaitlyn Swift had double and an RBI. Kinlee Thompson added a single and two RBI while Lauren Johnson and Amelia Montes had a single and an RBI each.<\/p>\n

Vandalia finished with 11 hits led by Madison Lupton with two singles, ad double and an RBI. Arian Dunaway added two singles and two RBI while Mady McCall had a single, double and an RBI and Elaina Hagy two singles and an RBI.<\/p>\n

The Warriors edged out to a 2-0 openiing inning lead then tacked on a run in the third, four in the fourth and finished with two in the sixth.<\/p>\n

Casey-Westfield had nine hits led by Tristan Ring with two singles, a double and four RBI, Ava Goble with a single, double and an RBI, Arhianna Bonds with two singles, Ella Whitacre with a double and an RBI and Allyson Truelove with a\u00a0 single and an RBI.<\/p>\n

Cumberland had two hits, a double by Shelby Kingery and a single by Mia Holsapple.<\/p>\n
