LOUISVILLE — North Clay took a 3-0 opening inning lead and never looked back in an 11-1 high school baseball victory over Brownstown\/St. Elmo in five innings via the 10-run rule Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Cardinals edged out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning then had a two-run second and finished with a six-run third.<\/p>\n

North Clay evened its record to 3-3 and is back in action today at Edwards County (Albion) in a 4:30 p.m. contest.<\/p>\n

Zayden Gillespie led BSE with two singles while Corey Hoopingarner had a single and two RBI.<\/p>\n

Brownstown\/St. Elmo is 1-2 on the season and returns to play today at Martinsville.<\/p>\n

Arcola had 12 hits and was aided by seven Windsor\/Stew-Stras errors.<\/p>\n

The Hatchets had five hits, all singles by Jackson Gurgel, Ben Bridges, Carter Verdeyen, Derk Friese and Oliver Wascher.<\/p>\n

B. Phillips threw a five-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts for Arcola.<\/p>\n

Quintin Stephens had two singles and two RBI for the Bulldogs while Chase Dorris and Will Bierman finished with two singles and an RBI each. Will Vonderheide added a single and an RBI and Charley Spour an RBI.<\/p>\n
