{"id":50615,"date":"2026-11-02T10:39:02","date_gmt":"2026-11-02T16:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/?p=50615"},"modified":"2026-11-02T10:39:02","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T16:39:02","slug":"lake-shelbyville-announces-temporary-recreation-area-closures-for-annual-deer-hunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/local-news\/50615-lake-shelbyville-announces-temporary-recreation-area-closures-for-annual-deer-hunt\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake Shelbyville announces temporary recreation area closures for annual deer hunt"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LAKE SHELBYVILLE, Ill. \u2013 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, will temporarily close several recreation areas at Lake Shelbyville from 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, through 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, to accommodate the 36th annual Lake Shelbyville Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hunt, conducted in partnership with Wolf Creek State Park, will take place Nov. 20-22 during the first firearm deer season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a safety precaution, the following locations will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Lone Point and Lithia Springs campgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Wilborn Creek Recreation Area<\/li>\n<li>Whitley Creek Recreation Area<\/li>\n<li>Coon Creek Recreation Area<\/li>\n<li>Opossum Creek Recreation Area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The closures also include boat ramps within the Wilborn Creek, Whitley Creek, Coon Creek and Opossum Creek recreation areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boat ramps at Dam West, Lone Point, Lithia Springs, Forrest W, Bo Woods, Wolf Creek State Park and Eagle Creek State Park will remain open, along with all secondary ramps.
