His presentation entitled &#8220;The Demographic Cliff&#8221; addressed the population shifts in our state and how that affects future student populations. It was noted that since 2010 Illinois had lost more population than any other Midwestern state. It was shown that K-12 enrollments from 2005-2006 to 2024-2025 decreased in almost every area school district. The exception was Dieterich Community Unit School District in which the student population increased by 23.3%.
