The buildings to be removed are on the south side of Fayette Avenue from Fifth Street east to Willow Street. \u200b \u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"styles_paragraph__6o_o7\">Periodic lane closures will be needed for some of the work. Arrow boards, barrels and signs will be in place to guide motorists through the work zone. Building demolition is expected to be completed by mid-November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"styles_paragraph__6o_o7\">This work is part of the larger $56 million Fayette Avenue improvement project. Work to reconstruct and expand Fayette Avenue from Banker Street to Long Street is expected to begin in 2027. \u200b Improvements to Fayette Avenue from Illini Drive to Walnut Avenue were completed in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"styles_paragraph__6o_o7\">Motorists are encouraged to use other routes to avoid the area and allow extra time for trips through this area.
