He was the beloved husband of Wilma Bierman and a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend.<\/p>\n<p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Island Grove. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Bishop Creek. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, concluding with a 7:00 p.m. vigil prayer service. Memorials may be made to Ballard Nature Center. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony was the son of Bernard and Mildred Bierman. He grew up as one of eleven siblings and waspreceded in death by his mother, Mildred; father, Bernard; and his older brother, George.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his siblings, Jane, Clete, Mary, Mike, Geralyn, Barb, Bernice, Steve, and Jeanette; his wife, Wilma; and his sons Christopher (Danielle), Philip (Angie), Adam (Jessica), and Nicholas (Megan). He is the grandfather of Laila, Levi, Natasha, Noah, Richard, Savannah, Tennessee, and Henry Bierman.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony was a hardworking man who spent much of his life caring for his small farm and the owner of TB Electric. He loved working with his hands and spending time outdoors. On his farm, he raised cattle and baled hay, finding satisfaction in the land, the work, and the simple pleasures of rural life. He was also an extraordinary runner. An avid distance runner, Anthony completed races of incredible length, including 17 100-mile races, as well as numerous lesser ultramarathons. Running was more than a hobby for him; it reflected the determination, endurance, and perseverance that defined so much of his life. When he was not working or running, Anthony could often be found outdoors enjoying the many activities he loved. He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. Above all, he treasured family gatherings and the time they shared together. Anthony was known throughout his family for his lighthearted nature and wonderful sense of humor. He had a gift for bringing laughter into a room and making people feel at ease. He also possessed a quiet wisdom, evident in the traditions he started and the lessons he passed down. Many of those traditions continue today, carried on by the family he loved so deeply.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony\u2019s greatest legacy will not be measured by the miles he ran, the work he accomplished, or the things he owned. It will be found in the family he brought together, the traditions he created, the laughter he shared, and the memories that will continue to be passed from one generation to the next.
