{"id":44542,"date":"2026-08-18T15:00:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T20:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/?p=44542"},"modified":"2026-08-18T15:04:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T20:04:21","slug":"judith-kay-fontaine-79-of-st-elmo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/obits\/44542-judith-kay-fontaine-79-of-st-elmo\/","title":{"rendered":"Judith Kay Fontaine (79) of St. Elmo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Judith Kay Fontaine, age 79, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">residence in St. Elmo, Illinois, with her family beside her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Graveside service will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Kankakee, Illinois.\u00a0 Tim Fontaine will officiate the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">service.\u00a0 A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2026 at The Table Church, 501 N Main Street, St. Elmo, Illinois.\u00a0 In lieu of flowers, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">memorials may go to The Table Church or the donor\u2019s choice.\u00a0 Online condolences may <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">be left at www.pagelfuneralhome.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Judith was born December 13, 1946, in Watseka, Illinois, the daughter of Harold Long <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and Maxine (Meents) Long.\u00a0 Judith married Alvin Andrew Fontaine on June 28, 1964, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and began a life filled with love and children. Judith devoted much of her life to her <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">family as a loving wife and mother.\u00a0 She was actively involved in the lives of her children, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">serving as both a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader, a room mother at her children\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">school, and a member of the PTA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Judith served as a dietary manager at Heritage House\/Heritage Village, she also <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">worked in the kitchen at the Villa in Kankakee, Illinois.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Judith had a strong personality and a gift for making life special.\u00a0 She loved shopping, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">crafting with her Cricut, and creating mugs and other personalized gifts.\u00a0 She also loved <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">bringing people together. In years past, her backyard parties became legendary among <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">family and friends and were remembered long after they were over.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Perhaps most of all, Judith had a way of making every holiday and birthday feel <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">important.\u00a0 She decorated for nearly every occasion and especially loved Christmas. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She loved to cook, and Christmas was made a little sweeter by her homemade fudge, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">divinity, and fruitcake, which became treasured family traditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Judith is survived by her five children, Tim (Danielle) Fontaine of St. Elmo, Illinois, Mary <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hirsch of South Palm Beach, Florida, Tammy (Gary) Berens of Cullom, Illinois, Brian <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">(Anne) Fontaine of La Porte, Indiana, and Shannon Clark of St. Elmo, Illinois; her sister, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pamela Murphy of Puyallup, Washington; 15-granchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">as well as many other family members and friends, who will dearly miss her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvin Andrew Fontaine; her <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">brother, Michael Long and her sister Joyce Hupel.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Judith died on Sunday, August 16.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":44543,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":"","_members_access_role":[],"_members_access_error":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-44542","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-obits"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.3 -
