Officers rendered medical attention to a victim and initiated an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, whose name was not released by police, was identified on the Facebook page of the Rockford-based company, Meiborg Companies, where he works as a driver as Corey Clayton. Clayton was transported by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony&#8217;s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, and later transferred by Air Evac to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for further treatment. Effingham Police Department said they would not be releasing any additional information regarding the victim or their medical condition. The company Facebook post, however, indicates that Clayton suffered major injuries. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist Clayton while he is off work and recovering from his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>City police say the investigation remains active, and that detectives are continuing to follow current leads and gather information related to the circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe take incidents like this seriously, and our investigators will continue to pursue every available lead and diligently work to establish the facts surrounding what occurred,\u201d stated Police Chief<br \/>\nKurt Davis. \u201cOur thoughts are with the victim, and we certainly wish them well as they recover. Our investigators will continue to vigorously pursue this case and take appropriate action based on the facts and evidence developed through the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Information gathered through the initial investigation indicates this was an isolated incident, and police say there is no known ongoing threat to the community.
