USA \u2013 The spring season has concluded for the 626 athletes participating in the USA College Clay Target League (USACCTL) this spring. Those athletes represented 66 colleges and universities from across the county, and were supported by dozens of coaches, team staff, and other volunteers.\u201cMore and more colleges have adopted the League\u2019s program as a way to attract and engage students.\u201d \u00a0John Nelson, President of the USACCTL, said. \u201cIt has been great to see the scholarship and education opportunities that these institutions are now providing their students.\u201dThis season\u2019s top performers were Justin Jerome from Alfred State College in New York, whose perfect season took home the Top Overall and the Top Male awards for the trap shooting competition.\u00a0 Jordan Lewis, from St. Cloud Technical and Community College in Minnesota earned the Top Female award, missing just one target out of the 250 competition targets attempted during the five weeks of competition.Full results, including overall standings for trap, skeet, and sporting clays are available online:

Teams will now look forward towards the League\u2019s Fall Season, which is the premier program for the College Clay Target League. Beginning in September, teams will have another five-week competition season, and will be eligible to compete at the\u00a0USA College Clay Target League National Championship<\/a>\u00a0at the end of October.<\/p>\n

About the USA Clay Target League<\/strong><\/p>\n

The non-profit USA College Clay Target League is a division of the USA Clay Target League, which provides clay target shooting sports opportunities to over 56,000 students on over 2,000 school-approved teams across America each year. Including trap, skeet, sporting clays, and 5-stand programs, the League is the leading provider of clay target shooting sports to secondary and post-secondary schools across the country.<\/p>\n

The League is the only 100% school-approved clay target shooting sport program in America. Every team must have school approval to participate. In addition, tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships are provided to qualifying seniors by the League and post-secondary institutions each year.<\/p>\n

The League\u2019s co-ed and adaptive nature are key attractions to schools nationwide: it\u2019s fully Title IX compliant with both male and female athletes competing on the same team, and it\u2019s an \u2018adaptive\u2019 sport, which allows students with physical disabilities to take part.<\/p>\n

The League\u2019s priorities are safety, fun, and marksmanship \u2013 in that order.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each athlete must complete firearm safety certification before participation.<\/p>\n
